Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their CODENAMES. In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin. Codenames: Win or lose, it's fun to figure out the clues.

Another vote in favour of Codenames

Since this game has already attracted eight positive reviews, there is very little I can add, except to express more support. What I will say is that this game has one major advantage over party games such as Cards Against Humanity. It avoids the judge mechanic - the fact that one person can make a decisive call on who wins. So as far as party games go, this is worth it.

Quick setup, Fun game-play, Family Friendly

Reviewed by on

This game is an easy to play word game suitable for the whole family! After a short setup the game can be played in under 20 minutes with great replay-ability. The cards are printed on durable card stock and there are enough cards to play hundreds of games without ever getting the same setup. The rules are short, concise, and easy to understand without having to sit for hours making notes.

Recommended for any fans of Pictionary, Scrabble, 30 Seconds, or any other word based games.

Great Game, Could Be Stored Better

Reviewed by on

This game is fun to play and easy to understand. It is appropriate for all ages and anyone will have fun playing it.
My only complaint is that the box does not have compartmental holders, so the cards tend to get shaken around the box when in transit. There are some Ziploc bags that help keep certain components together, but they don't do much to prevent damage.

Quick family fun

Game is quick to play and easy to learn. Just simple family fun. Give a single work clue and a number, the rest of the group needs to figure out what words he is referring to. As simple as that. Must have for all family gatherings.

Great fun

This game is by far the most popular of our board games among our friends and family. It's easy to learn but can be pretty challenging to play. There are enough different cards that there's plenty of replayability.
