The Empire must fall. Our mission must succeed. By destroying their key bases, we will shatter Imperial strength and liberate our people. Yet spies have infiltrated our ranks, ready for sabotage. We must unmask them. In five nights we reshape destiny or die trying. We are the Resistance!

The Resistance is a party game of social deduction. It is designed for five to ten players, lasts about 30 minutes, and has no player elimination. The Resistance is inspired by Mafia/Werewolf, yet it is unique in its core mechanics, which increase the resources for informed decisions, intensify player interaction, and eliminate player elimination.

Players are either Resistance Operatives or Imperial Spies. For three to five rounds, they must depend on each other to carry out missions against the Empire. At the same time, they must try to deduce the other players’ identities and gain their trust. Each round begins with discussion. When ready, the Leader entrusts sets of Plans to a certain number of players (possibly including himself/herself). Everyone votes on whether or not to approve the assignment. Once an assignment passes, the chosen players secretly decide to Support or Sabotage the mission. Based on the results, the mission succeeds (Resistance win) or fails (Empire win). When a team wins three missions, they have won the game.

Excellent for social observation

The beating heart of The Resistance lies in the joy of successfully deceiving your friends and/or successully uncovering their perfidy, as you try to distinguish loyal members of the resistance from spies. I have played this game several times and the tense yet hiliarious suspicion, accusations and bluffing always produces a riot of fun. The game is very easy to teach, and I have played it with first timers without problems. If you need a game for a larger group (at least five players) that involves bantering, acting, bluffing and poker faces, this one is for you.

Keep your Friends close and your Enemies closer

Have you ever wanted to lie to someones face and not have any consequences? Do you want to feel like a spy and deceive those around you? Then The Resistance is the game for you.

In The Resistance 5 - 10 players goes on 3 missions. Players are dealt a random role card which determines whether you are a member of the resistance or a spy, who wants to sabotage the mission. The leader of the mission has to choose wisely who will be going on the mission as the spies will attempt to convince everyone that they should be going because they will ensure that it will be a success.

Lying and deceiving to your friends and family is everything in this quick game. A session will take you about 10-20 min to play so multiple plays while the meat is sizzling on the braai is definitely possible.
