Lerina Erasmus was born and grew up in Namibia. She studied drama at the University of Pretoria and was an actress for a number of major regional theatre companies in South Africa. She is the author of various plays for radio, including Die Mannheim-sage, which was adapted for television in 1986. Lerina is married to Günter Schmikal and together they have a son, Stefan. Lerina lives in Johannesburg. Die leliemoordenaaris her novel after the publication of Die Mannheim-sage.
