Ordered the slot car set, after reading much about it before. I believe the 8.9m track is big and the quality of the cars/track is excellent for the price you pay.

I bought it 70% for my 6 year old boy and 30% for me. The cars take a little getting use to, in terms of accelaration and where to go full speed, but after a rounds, you pick it up easily.

This is a great product and a lot of expansion tracks available to change layout and/or size.

Good buy

Package arrived a bit later than expected but in excellent condition. As a Star Wars fan I always wanted to own an AT-ST and was saddened when the earlier model was discontinued. This one is from the Movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (as opposed to the discontinued model which is from Return of the Jedi).

Misinformation

Reviewed by on

The product was advertised as "4 of 16 assorted pens and toppers" when I ordered it. Once I placed my order, the description changed to "1 of 4 assorted pens and toppers", and the price skyrocketed. As a result, I payed for 1 pen what I thought I was paying for 4. I would never have paid the amount if it was advertised correctly as only 1 pen, as it was expensive for only 1. To make matters worse, this was for a gift and I now have to find other items to make the gift suitable, as 1 pen is too little. This is the first time I have been let down by Raru, and I must say that I'm very disappointed.

PopBoxZA Rock Candy Wonder Woman Review

Reviewed by on

The recent release of the Justice League film has catapulted Wonder Woman back to the forefront of fan’s awareness. Mind you, she wasn’t exactly far away from it to start with.

It seems as good a time as any then to revisit and review Funko’s Rock Candy Wonder Woman figures. For the purpose of this review we’ll be focusing on the Batman v Superman Wonder Woman figure.

If you’d never heard of Rock Candy before you would be forgiven for thinking it’s sugary convection made for human consumption. In this context though it refers to one of Funko’s lines of 5 inch, or roughly 13 cm, stylized figures.

First up is the Batman v Superman Wonder Woman. As is stands this figure is based on the 15 minute appearance Wonder Woman makes at the of Batman v Superman. Hence, there are some differences in her classic costume as compared to the epic that is standalone Wonder Woman film.

A general overview reveals Diana in her classic Wonder Woman costume complete with the Lasso of truth but without her shield or sword. She also sports the gold tiara, trademark red and gold boots, and silver gauntlets.

The colour choices on the figure are less vibrant than you would probably like. For instance, the Lasso of truth probably should have been painted with a more vibrant gold colour given that it glows when used. Similarly, Wonder Woman’s red chest plate and blue skirt would have look much better had it been a shade or two more vibrant.

The gauntlets are well finished off and nicely detailed all the way down to little to the small clasps with which the faster around the wrists. The boots and knee pads again lack the vibrancy that would’ve made the figure pop. While the hair is flowing and nicely sculpted they’ve made Wonder Woman a brunette! It is evident from her appearance in Batman v Superman that her hair is definitely more black than it is brown.

The other oddity with the figure is the fact that they harness has been included but without any shield or sword. There is a third figure in this wave that includes the shield and ‘God killer’ sword. As with all Rock Candy figures there is no articulation. Here she’s stood with hand on hip in what isn’t really a very Wonder Woman-esque pose. It might be a bit nit-picky but the pose just doesn’t convey the badass-ness of Wonder Woman.

Should you add this figure to your collection? If you’re an indiscriminate collector of Wonder Woman paraphernalia then these are worth getting, as they are relatively inexpensive.

The recent release of the Justice League film has catapulted Wonder Woman back to the forefront of fan’s awareness. Mind you, she wasn’t exactly far away from it to start with.

It seems as good a time as any then to revisit and review Funko’s Rock Candy Wonder Woman figures. The figure in this review is from the character as seen in the Wonder Woman film. Instead of the iconic red, gold, and blue costume Wonder Woman is sporting her training gear [insert flashback to epic training scene in Themiscyra here].

Overall the colouring is far better and presents a more realistic capturing of the character in this form. However, for some reason Wonder Woman is still a brunette. Nevertheless, the gold-ish chest plate has good detailing along with the ever-present gauntlets, beige-y coloured skirt and the leather gladiator boots makes for quite a nice ensemble.

While the harness is still in place she still doesn’t have a shield. However, they have swopped the Lasso of truth for Wonder Woman’s sword and it’s very nice. The detailing on the sword, including the grip and small details in the blade of the sword is nearly the best feature of this figure.

The best part of this figure is the warrior pose. With her feet flat on the ground and clenched fists Wonder Woman conveys a real sense of authority and power.

Should you add this figure to your collection? If you’re an indiscriminate collector of Wonder Woman paraphernalia then these are worth getting, as they are relatively inexpensive.

PopBoxZA Funko Pop! Alias Review

Reviewed by on

Funko Pop Vinyls are, arguably, one the most enjoyable collections to start, maintain, or expand. But be warned – many an ordinary collector has succumbed to the irresistible urge of throwing caution to the wind and growing their Funko empires with reckless abandon.

Beyond the amazing range of Pops that they continue to churn out the other cool thing about Funko is that what they release isn’t necessarily time sensitive. Yes, you’ll find the latest characters from Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok adorably represented in Funko form but the company also regularly pays homage to past icons, films, and television series that have long since gone off the air.

More recently, Funko has released a wave of four Pops of the TV series Alias’ main character Sydney Bristow. The series, which began airing in 2001, ran for five seasons and introduced us to the multi-skilled super-spy Sydney Bristow, played by Jennifer Garner. A master of disguise Sydney is recruited by the CIA and poses as an operative for the criminal organization SD-6. Created by J.J. Abrams, Alias was a series chock-full of realistic plots and a main character that was easy to root for. Besides further starring Victor Garber, as Sydney’s father, and Michael Vartan, this series also happened to introduce on Bradley Cooper to the world.

It’s only fitting then that such an iconic series and main character have it’s own line of Pops. Besides her badass spy skills Sydney was also well known for her colourful disguises, which is where Funko’s focus is.

The first sees Sydney is an electric blue mini-dress complete with black high-heels and blonde wig. The standout feature on this Pop is the high-heeled shoes, which boasts impressive detailing on the straps and small buckle on top of the foot. What’s more, even the toenails have been painted to match the blue of the dress without any of the paint having smudge or spilled over onto the rest of the figure.

The next figure, featured in episode twenty-two of Season 1, depicts Sydney’s Goth look as the sports a blue wig and all black get up. Funko have shown great attention to detail here with the choker and wristbands meticulously sculpted to include the silver accents. While the sheer top is nicely modeled it would’ve been nice to have a bit more sheen on what are supposed to be leather pants.

The next pop in the wave jumps to the first episode of Season 4 during which Sydney dons a schoolgirl outfit. Funko have the outfit down to a tee, including the plaid skirt and black calf-length socks. The only gripe with the outfit is that safety pins on the front of the skirt are bigger than the original version. Still, it’s an acceptably cool replica of the outfit.

While all of Sydney’s costumes in Alias are well known the most iconic look for the character was, arguably, the day-glow red wig, which she first wears in the first episode of the series. The famous red hair is seen several more times before the series end in 2006. Funko have brought it back to life and thankfully it’s as vibrant as it was in the series. The outfit it’s been paired with is an all-black ensemble that perfectly contrasts with the hair.

Ultimately, there’s little fault in Funko’s Alias pops. We only hope that we see another wave of memorable Sydney costumes and perhaps even a few of her sidekicks.
