Description

This episodic animated adventure from the Film Roman anime studio is adapted from the 14th-century classic tale by Dante Alighieri. Six different directors have produced the six segments in contrasting animation styles to create a dark vision of the Nine Circles of Hell: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud and Treachery. The narrative follows Dante as he journeys through these stages of hell, visiting each of the nine circles of the Inferno in the hope of saving the spirit and soul of his true love Beatrice, who has been taken from him by the devil.

A thrilling dive into the world of Dante's Inferno

Reviewed by on

Based on the Visceral Games Title of the same name released on the PS3 and XBox 360 in 2010. As with other titles in a similar vein, such as Gotham Knight and Emerald Knight, the variations in animation style between each chapter give you fresh look at the world. The highly stylized quality of the animation keeps you on your toes as you dive deeper into the world of Dante's Inferno. Although the voice cast has very few household names, the voice acting is superb and keeps you connected to the story and characters alike. Another piece of brilliance from Production IG along with a number of other animation studios. Be warned though, some visuals in this quick trip into the seven circles of hell may offend some, but if you were a fan of the game, then you are in for treat. My only complaint would be that it is too short.
