Description

Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas star in this sci-fi action movie following the Marvel Comics superhero. Decades earlier scientist Hank Pym (Douglas) invented a special suit that would allow him to transform to the size of an ant and give him super-strength. The ageing hero approaches petty thief Scott Lang (Rudd) and, with the help of his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Lilly), Hank trains him to become the new Ant-Man. After Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) takes over his former mentor Pym's business he produces a similar suit to be worn by the military as well as a more powerful suit for himself, transforming him into Yellowjacket. This results in chaos and it's up to Ant-Man to use both his thieving skills and his new-found abilities to save the day.

Movie Critics
A.V. Club
"[It] makes for an enjoyable, intermittently inspired effects-driven comedy and a welcome antidote to the over-burdened world-saving that seems to define big-screen superhero stories."
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky (15 Jul 2015, )
Empire
4 stars out of 5 -- "A science-fiction, action-heist, superhero comedy soap opera, this straddles as many genres as the Avengers films have characters but manages to do most of them pretty well. Extremely likable..."
Kim Newman (17 Jul 2015, )
Los Angeles Times
"Playful in unexpected ways and graced with a genuinely off-center sense of humor, ANT-MAN is light on its feet the way the standard-issue Marvel behemoths never are."
Kenneth Turan (15 Jul 2015, )
RogerEbert.com
3.5 stars out of 4 -- "It’s delightful and almost miraculous the way this movie manages to work as a comic heist picture on a huge scale, and with a comic science-fiction picture blended into it…while managing to cohere to the whole, you know, Marvel thing. "
Glenn Kenny (17 Jul 2015, )
Rolling Stone
3 stars out of 4 -- "The script by Joe Cornish and the terrific Edgar Wright with a frisky polish by Rudd and Adam McKay, explains it all for you....Luckily, Rudd is the kind of actor you'd happily follow anywhere."
Peter Travers (15 Jul 2015, )
Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "Marvel passes its biggest test in years with flying critters…plus wit, flair, top-notch casting and some good, gratuitous size gags."
Kevin Harley (8 Jul 2015, )
Variety
"[The film] emerges with a smaller-scaled, bigger-hearted origin story than most comicbook heroes are typically granted."
Justin Chang (8 Jul 2015, )
