Synopsis
Noah Baumbach's comedy-drama WHILE WE'RE YOUNG stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts as Josh and Cornelia, a childless New York married couple in their mid-forties. As their other friends all start having children, the duo gravitate toward a young hipster couple named Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby (Amanda Seyfried). He's an aspiring documentary filmmaker, a vocation Josh already has. Soon, the older couple begin enjoying the energy they feel hanging out with the younger generation, but eventually Josh begins to suspect his new best friend might not be as straightforward and trustworthy as he thought. WHILE WE'RE YOUNG screened at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.

Movie Critics
A.V. Club
"Laying out its anxieties right there in the title, WHILE WE'RE YOUNG is Noah Baumbach’s midlife crisis movie, a funny, talky portrait of an aging artist reaching for the vitality he sees in some younger friends. " -- Grade: B+
A.A. Dowd (26 Mar 2015, )
Chicago Sun-Times
"Writer-director Noah Baumbach is a master at creating smart, cynical, sometimes bitter characters who wield the language like a sabre..."
Richard Roeper (2 Apr 2015, )
Empire
4 stars out of 5 -- "A fast, funny, smart take on generational jealousy, with Ben Stiller and Adam Driver on great form."
Ian Freer (26 Mar 2015, )
Los Angeles Times
"Sharp, funny and dead-on accurate about the way we live now, WHILE WE'RE YOUNG is not a film about eternal youth but, rather, about coming to terms with growing older."
Kenneth Turan (26 Mar 2015, )
New York Times
"[Mr. Baumbach] is without peer among screenwriters as a composer of incisive, non-punchline-driven comic dialogue, and unrivaled among directors as a choreographer of fraught social encounters."
A. O. Scott (26 Mar 2015, )
RogerEbert.com
3 stars out of 4 -- "[Baumbach] offers a biting yet affectionate skewering of Brooklyn hipster culture through the characters of Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried....The details are delightfully dead-on."
Christy Lemire (27 Mar 2015, )
Rolling Stone
3 stars out of 4 -- "Stiller is killer at blending wit with physical comedy. His scenes with the gifted Driver, playing a careerist in hipster's clothing, escalate into generational comic warfare of a high order."
Peter Travers (25 Mar 2015, )
Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his is sharp filmmaking, treating serious themes with a beguiling lightness."
Philip Kemp (30 Mar 2015, )
USA Today
3 stars out of 4 -- "[A] sharply observed and witty dark comedy..."
