Description

Sharon Maguire directs this third instalment of the romantic comedy series based on the characters created by Helen Fielding. Renée Zellweger reprises her role as Bridget Jones, the quirky forty-something who is learning to embrace adulthood. Following her break up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), Bridget decides to focus on her career as a top news producer while also attempting to enjoy the single life with friends. Her love life takes another turn when she meets suave American Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey), who helps her out after getting into a spot of bother at a music festival. With a new relationship flourishing and everything seemingly under control, it's not long before there's a hitch - she discovers she's pregnant. Unsure if the father is long-term love interest Darcy, or newcomer Qwant, Bridget is yet again faced with making some awkward and ultimately life-changing decisions. The cast also includes Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson and Emma Thompson.

Entertainment Weekly
"The script contains some genuinely uproarious laughs....BRIDGET JONES'S BABY is a welcome return for the character and a more fitting ending than EDGE OF REASON…" -- Grade: B+
Entertainment Weekly Staff (5 Sep 2016, )
Los Angeles Times
"[W]hat's so refreshing about BRIDGET JONES'S BABY is that at 43, Bridget is effortlessly desirable, sexy, adventurous and, yes, adorable....Zellweger plays Bridget just as charmingly as she always has -- flawed but endearing; just right in her own idiosyncratic way."
Katie Walsh (15 Sep 2016, )
New York Times
"Renée Zellweger, crinkly eyed and adorable...plays a more poised and confident Bridget, still chasing what she calls 'happily ever after.'"
Stephen Holden (14 Sep 2016, )
RogerEbert.com
3 stars out of 4 -- "[T]his update on Bridget’s always-complicated affairs of the heart is more often than not a bundle of joy to watch.... Zellweger herself is still perfectly attuned -- lilting Brit accent, messy pratfalls, lusty dalliances and all -- to the role..."
Susan Wloszczyna (16 Sep 2016, )
Rolling Stone
3 stars out of 4 -- "[A] fizzy delight....A better-than-ever Zellweger plays her with a lovely comic lift laced with glimmers of hard-won maturity."
Peter Travers (15 Sep 2016, )
Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "[M]uch of the charm of celluloid Bridget originally was down to Zellweger herself and it’s joyous to see that that twinkle in her eyes, funny little shrug and sing-song RP cadence is still very much intact."
Jane Crowther (5 Sep 2016, )
