Movie Critics
Boston Globe
"Madden and Perera have saved up enough double and triple crosses and neck-snapping plot twists to supply a miniseries."
Peter Keough (8 Dec 2016, )
Chicago Sun-Times
"Dressed to the nines in Ice Queen fashion, Chastain delivers a big, bold, sexy, smart, screen-grab of a performance as one Elizabeth Sloane, a powerful and feared Capitol Hill lobbyist..."
Richard Roeper (8 Dec 2016, )
Los Angeles Times
"See this smart, showboating movie now, before its simmering sense of justice begins to feel like a thing of the past."
Justin Chang (24 Nov 2016, )
New York Times
"Jessica Chastain rules the Washington-based political thriller MISS SLOANE with such steely authority that you are hard pressed to imagine another actress playing the imperious, largely unsympathetic title character."
Stephen Holden (24 Nov 2016, )
RogerEbert.com
"Jake Lacy, who continues to surprise with his diversity of character roles, is riveting as the only character who treats Miss Sloane like a human being and -- in a beautiful irony -- one of the only characters in the entire film with a moral compass. Their scenes together are extremely well-played..."
Sheila O'Malley (25 Nov 2016, )
Rolling Stone
3 stars out of 4 -- "Chastain draws us in, making us see what the character keeps inside by the sheer force of her fireball performance."
Peter Travers (23 Nov 2016, )
The Atlantic
"That Chastain imbues Liz with some humanity is credit to the actress, but it’s also worth noting that the lobbyist shines in comparison to her surroundings....[It's] often fun in a grim, burn-everything-down kind of way."
Sophie Gilbert (9 Dec 2016, )
The Guardian
3 stars out of 5 -- "Jessica Chastain does her luridly lipsticked best with the character of Washington lobbyist Elizabeth Sloane. It’s a towering, armour-plated performance."
Wendy Ide (14 May 2017, )
Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "[A] twisty, tense and engrossing look at Washington’s underbelly, which may actually benefit from having a little bit of distance between it and last year’s election and referendum upsets."
Neil Smith (8 May 2017, )
