Movie Critics
A.V. Club
"Writer-director Roger Michell adds a few small but suggestive twists to the story, including the double-casting of Claflin as both Philip and Ambrose..."
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky (8 Jun 2017, )
Chicago Sun-Times
"Weisz’s performance is what provides the tension. It’s impossible to read her -- or, more accurately, it’s possible to misread her."
(9 Jun 2017, )
Empire
3 stars out of 5 -- "This one has all the ingredients for a heady Gothic romantic thriller: the remote Cornish manor, the handsome, wealthy young hero, the enigmatic, beauteous anti-heroine and plenty of suspense..."
Angie Errigo (5 Jun 2017, )
Los Angeles Times
"Anchored in an exceptionally persuasive performance by Rachel Weisz....A triumphant exercise in dark and delicious romantic ambiguity..."
Kenneth Turan (7 Jun 2017, )
Rolling Stone
3 stars out of 4 -- "MY COUSIN RACHEL works just fine, thank you. Credit Rachel Weisz, who's just the dynamite actress needed to play a character who could be a misunderstood innocent or a fortune-hunting seductress who could be a cold-blooded killer."
Peter Travers (6 Jun 2017, )
The Guardian
4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his saucily subversive dark romance mixes old-fashioned costumed intrigue with lustily modern psychological twists and post-Freudian thrills."
Mark Kermode (11 Jun 2017, )
Variety
"MY COUSIN RACHEL encourages us to jump to conclusions before using its tricksy ways to call all of those hasty half-truths into question."
Peter Debruge (2 Jun 2017, )
