- Synopsis
- In 1964, American art critic James Lord (Armie Hammer) gets uncomfortably close to artist Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush) when the master paints his portrait. What starts as a simple endeavor stretches out over two weeks, during which an aggrieved Lord grows to appreciate the cantankerous Giacometti's eccentricities, chaotic lifestyle, and unparalleled genius. Written and directed by Stanley Tucci.

- "Amusing....Elevated by a spirited characterization from Geoffrey Rush as mercurial artist -- is there any other kind in movies? -- Alberto Giacometti."— David Rooney (11 Feb 2018, )
- Los Angeles Times
- "Ably written and directed by Stanley Tucci, it examines in detail the drama behind the last painting made by artist Alberto Giacometti, but that is only the start. Powered by a triumphant performance by Geoffrey Rush as the celebrated painter."— Kenneth Turan (22 Mar 2018, )
- New York Times
- "[A] finely observed character study that possesses the ring of careworn, unprettified truth."— (4 Apr 2018, )
- RogerEbert.com
- 3 stars out of 4 -- "The movie is a minimally lovely treat to look at. Tucci and cinematographer Danny Cohen desaturate the colors at the beginning, giving the movie a black-and-slate-gray look from which blues and reds try to fight their way into the viewer’s perception."— Glenn Kenny (23 Mar 2018, )
- Rolling Stone
- 3 stars out of 4 -- "[Rush is] a live-wire actor of such effortless charisma that we’re drawn to his every utterance and gesture."— Peter Travers (21 Mar 2018, )
