"AQUAMAN's medley of influences skew to the less timeless and trendy, quoting the more spectacular moments of George Lucas’ STAR WARS prequels..."
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky (11 Dec 2018, )
Empire
3 stars out of 5 -- "Imagine if someone cut together all the biggest action sequences from the last few decades of Hollywood, resulting in a mash of TRON, AVATAR, CLASH OF THE TITANS, SUPERMAN, JURASSIC PARK, and GLADIATOR....Welcome to AQUAMAN..."
Helen O'Hara (11 Dec 2018, )
Hollywood Reporter
"[T]his one is considerably boosted by the appeal of the actor playing the title character, in this case likable hunk Jason Momoa..."

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[AQUAMAN] feels simultaneously like a spoof and an operatic melodrama. Any film that can combine those modes is a force to be reckoned with."
Matt Zoller Seitz (20 Dec 2018, )
Total Film
3 stars out of 5 -- "[It's] a revenge yarn, centred on the film’s B-villain. It’s this latter strand that ignites the action, as Arthur torpedoes to the rescue of a sub besieged by pirates led by tech-savvy treasure hunter David Kane."
Matthew Leyland (11 Dec 2018, )
Variety
"AQUAMAN plainly has a sense of humor about itself....Wan unleashes a massive deep-sea battle on par with THE LORD OF THE RINGS."
Peter Debruge (11 Dec 2018, )
