- Overview
- Lovable and friendly, the trolls love to play around. But one day, a mysterious giant shows up to end the party. Poppy, the optimistic leader of the Trolls, and her polar opposite, Branch, must embark on an adventure that takes them far beyond the only world they’ve ever known.
- Synopsis
- After a forest tribe of cotton-candy-colored, shock-headed trolls discover that they're the new favorite gourmet treat for King Gristle (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), the unlikely duo of bubbly Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and worrywart Branch (Justin Timberlake) must rescue their friends from the royals' chef (Christine Baranski). Zooey Deschanel, John Cleese, and Jeffrey Tambor also lend their voices to this animated fantasy inspired by Danish woodcutter Thomas Dam's collectible dolls.

- Movie Critics
- A.V. Club
- "Kendrick and Timberlake, whose excellent singing voices have been well-established, volley a buoyant banter between a lifelong optimist saddled with a lifelong pessimist....This leads to some valuable one-liners not only between two gifted performers, but some other witty segues..."— A.V. Club (31 Oct 2016, )
- Boston Globe
- "Energetic and vibrant....The cast definitely does its part to help give the film its bounce."— Tom Russo (3 Nov 2016, )
- Empire
- 3 stars out of 5 -- "The voice cast lifts it. Anna Kendrick, as the young leader of the Trolls, knows how to do adorable without being overly saccharine, and Justin Timberlake plays it pleasingly low-key as the most cynical of the Trolls."— Olly Richards (21 Oct 2016, )
- Entertainment Weekly
- "[T]he movie’s serotonin pumps like a fire hose. It’s almost impossible not to surrender to the bliss." -- Grade: B+— Leah Greenblatt (3 Nov 2016, )
- Los Angeles Times
- "[I]t’s hard to resist its silly, utopian vision of a world where happiness reigns, love wins and the mere sound of Timberlake’s voice carries the promise of salvation."— Justin Chang (3 Nov 2016, )
- New York Times
- "Amid a pastel palette, dazzling production numbers abound, the best at a glittering pizza palace roller disco."— Andy Webster (3 Nov 2016, )
- Rolling Stone
- "Rarely has so much care been made to show so much texture in an animated film, from the characters' downy skin to the background flora that seems wonderfully tactile and almost hand-made. There's a distinct arts-and-craft look to everything."— David Fear (4 Nov 2016, )
- The Guardian
- 3 stars out of 5 -- "It’s a DreamWorks production that is set in a vivid multicoloured world....In this fairytale land, there is a community of happy, Pollyanna-ishly positive trolls..."— Peter Bradshaw (20 Oct 2016, )
