R.I.P. Toots Thielemans 23 Aug 2016

Renowned Jazz musician, Harmonica player and Whistler, Jean-Baptiste Frederic Isidore Thielemans, better known simply as "Toots" Thielemans has died at the age of 94.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning in Belgium, the country where he was born and so revered he was bestowed the title of Baron by the Belgium Royal family. He was a master of the harmonica and got his start when he joined Benny Goodman on tour in Europe in 1950. Emigrating to the US, he joined Charlie Parker's All Stars and went on to play with Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Billy Joel. His solos played an important part of many film scores, including "Midnight Cowboy". He was 94 years old and was performing up to 2014 when his advanced age made it difficult for him to continue performing.

R.I.P. Toots! You will be missed!
