Received in early December, these controllers have held up well to the abuse of nearly 200 hours of Smash Bros. They're definitely nowhere near the quality of the Pro Controller, but for 1/3rd of the price it's a much more affordable investment. The removable USB-C cable is very helpful when packing the controllers for transport and hopefully will mean I can replace the cable easily if damaged.

Form over Function

Reviewed by on

Recently bought the case, build quality at first glance is good, until you start building with the case.

The metal chassis is soft making it easy to bend in some places, case was bent slightly at the back by the expansion slots making installing a graphics card a chore. The covers for the slots are not ones you can replace once removed so make sure you only break what you need to off.

Glass is thinner than most cases and is also a fingerprint magnet. This could be solved if they did what most manufactures do and put a thin black border on the glass, this could also help aesthetically as it shows the frame of the case which takes away from the cases good looks.

The biggest issue for this case is below, Airflow.

The front three fans are extremely close to the front glass panel (about 3mm) and this chokes off the fans and makes them basically just there for the lovely colours. I fixed this by moving the two topmost fans, behind the metal frame giving more room to the fans as well as making those side vents on the front functional (before they were pretty much blocked off by the fans). Also take note that once you move the fans it is one hell of a mission to get to the tabs to remove the front again.

As for the advertised radiator support, Maybe the Static pressure fans that come with most AIO's might help with sucking in some air but unfortunately i would suggest that you either, completely remove the two- three front fans as they block the side vents as mentioned or remove the front panel completely.

Comparing this to my CM Enforcer case which i replaced, this case performs poorly airflow wise even after moving the fans. On a i5 3470 i am getting +/- 65 on the package with an old Akasa venom cooler (77 before i moved the fans), and 82 on my MSI armor GTX 1060( 94! before i moved the fans). Comparing this to my previous case( dust and all) where i got 53 Celsius and 70 respectively you can see the difference.

Cable management below, which for me is the second biggest issue for this case.

There are no rubber grommets to help neaten up the cable cutouts, which is to be expected at this price point. On the topic of cutouts it seems that some odd decisions were made to try to get a standard ATX motherboard to fit in this "Smallish?" case. The top cutout that is usually used for the CPU 4 pin or 8 pin power cable is rendered useless to all except for the thin fan cable that is pre-routed through there. As the motherboard completely, not partially but completely covers that cutout.

The Cutouts on the side of the motherboard do not line up nicely with my boards 24 pin leading to alittle more cable being brought into the case which is not a big deal. There are cutouts on the bottom power supply shroud( at this price both these features are fantastic) for cable management.

Behind the scenes the cable management is "alright". There are no recesses for you to route your cables easily and the space between the chassis and the side panel is no where near enough. There is a strange bulge on the side panel to try and create more space and this does help somewhat but the space is still limited. There are ample cable tie spots to use so that helps you get creative with your cable management, ( this creativity is a must if you dont want to force the side panel into place).

Now for the features.

The biggest one and the one that made me buy it in the first place are the RGB fans included with the case. With 4 included RGB fans this is a steal but there are some things that you need to know, one these fans use the old way of lighting up the whole fan, with bright spots where the LEDs are. you could maybe try to Jerry-rig a diffuser to the side of the ring to get rid of this without messing up the effect on the fan itself but there are no guaranties.
Two these fans use their own proprietary connectors which connect to their own fan hub (no connecting any other type of fans or other fan hubs such as NZXT's Hue). The hub can still add an additional 3 fans as well as two RGB strips, but this Hub is basic. It will only do solid colours and fade between them. No fancy rainbow effects or the like here.
Since the fans use their own connectors you cannot change the hub for something more advance later down the line and so a complete replacement of the "system" is required.

The Hard drive situation is good actually, there are three SSD ( or small laptop hard drive?) mounting points inside the main chamber for you to get your showboating on. Two 3.5 mounting trays in the power supply shroud and one SSD mounting point behind the motherboard tray for a grand total of six which is not bad for a case this size.

My personal Verdict,

This case is good for the price if you are the form over function type. I would recommend this to the person who has lowish powered components - Ryzen 3 with maybe a GTX 1050 - blower style graphics card is a must as most internal vent coolers like mine will heat up this case in less then Ten minutes ( the actual top of the case gets quite warm).

I've left this till the end as I expect it to be a once off fluke and I don't want this to effect peoples judgement on the case, but i received no Remote for the RGB fans, case filter for the bottom mounted PSU or hard drive trays with the case. This is apparently sorted out at time of writing but i am still waiting on Raru to pick up the case( that's right i have to send it back and get a completely new case?!) so that I can get this sorted.

From a pure visual aspect, this pop is great, very well detailed. From a practical point of view though, its very disappointing as the model is top heavy and the plastic in the feet seem to bend with time causing it to fall over. Mine has fallen from its shelf multiple times causing massive damage, as the model is pieced together and not a solid plastic unit. You will need to prop it up in the end.

The best flip-tiles yet..

Reviewed by on

Most of the tiles show the roof on the A side, and a plan view of the room on the opposite B side, which is excellent. I hope all future flip-tiles do this, because e.g. the forest fire tiles are not useful because there aren't versions of that same area of forest that's not burning.

These flip sides are even better than those very rare flip-mat/map pack combos that were designed to work together like "GameMastery Map Pack: Shops" and "Flip-Mat Classics: City Streets", because now you can design your own city layout.

The few problems I have aren't too major:
1. The tiles with drains (e.g. ur0 33) or drains and water (e.g. ur0 21) are missing those things on the flip side. I wish all the tiles were designed like the city wall tiles (ur0 39-42) where the road and grass are perfect copies on what's on the other side.
2. The fountain tiles (ur0 37a and 38a) are duplicates, which would've been fine it they didn't have puddles of water on the ground that clearly stand out as perfect duplicates.
3. Some 2x2 building plan views (e.g. ur0 21b, lower left) have tiny 1 block by 1 block areas with walls on 3 sides - too small for anything other than standing in. I'm not sure what such structures could be used for.
4. It would have been nice to have alternate versions of ur0 42b that showed the plan view when going down the trap door but still showed the normal building roof, and another alternate showing the plan view of both the wall and building.
5. The tiles with steps (e.g. ur0 09a) don't show those steps when you flip them over, tho I suppose you could say they're sun shades instead.

This is my second Tank craft book and just like the 1st one, this edition does not disappoint. Great artwork and the built models are a pleasure to look at. The title focusses on both the Tiger I and Tiger II but it seems the majority of the book is Tiger I orientated (which for me is great since I am building the Tiger I)

Overall a great publication, especially for model building purposes.

Disappointing

Reviewed by on

Merits:
The game design invokes the tense, gripping atmosphere and nail biting decisions associated with hostage negotiation in 80s cop dramas. It also plays very fast, allowing you to attempt many different strategies one after the other. A single round often plays in about ten minutes.

Demerits:
Unfortunately, the degree of randomisation and the predominance of luck cooled my enthusiasm. The degree of dice luck is bad enough, but its influence on your success is compounded by the Terror Deck. Ultimately, you will lose several games in a row, owing to bad luck, or win on the strenght of good luck, rather than competent strategy. This dearth of control suits the theme (I think). However, if you are looking for a solo game that rewards meticulous, strategic thinking, I would still recommend Tiny Epic Galaxies or Friday (both games are also available on Raru).
