As Bigby Wolf -- THE big bad wolf in human form -- you will discover that the brutal, bloody murder of a Fable is just a taste of things to come, in a game series where your every decision can have enormous consequences.

Totally suprising game

Reviewed by on

This game came out of nowhere. I had no idea about tell-tale games and this was my first accidental exposure to them. My suggestion is to not read any spoilers, not watch any game play demos, just buy the game and give it a go. You can always resell it if it's not to your liking, but I honestly think this has something for everyone.

Engaging Story Telling

TellTale Games deliver a beautiful piece of storytelling in The Wolf Among Us.

Packaging a captivating story with characters that quickly grow on you, it is not long before you are drawn into the events of Fable town. The story itself develops at a perfect pace as the player plays as Bigby Wolf. As a player, you quickly take on the role of Bigby and lose yourself in the game.

Controls can be a little tricky at first with no actual tutorial but it does not take long to figure out how to interact with the environment and other fairy tale characters from Snow White to Beauty and the Beast and even much darker characters of legend like Bloody Mary and Jersey Devil.

A must play game for all who are fans of fairy tales as The Wolf Among Us puts a much more modern, adult take on the stories of yesteryear. Despite the dark atmosphere, the game isn't short of comic relief that is artfully sown in.

Overall, a must play game for all those who love the art of story telling, characters that quickly feel like they part of your life and the sense of fulfilment of once it is all over. The Wolf Among Us is by far a masterpiece of its time that will keep you coming back to relive it through it all.

Wonderful re-imaging of old fairytales

The wolf among us is one of my favourite Telltale releases, coming close to the quality seen in the first season of the studio's the walking dead. I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates either fairytales, the fables series, or telltale's games

TellTale the GOAT

I've been a fan of the Fairy Tale comic book series for a couple years now and when I discovered TellTale Wolf Among Us I was looking forward to a new story in this already interesting and exciting universe. I have no prior experience with TellTale games so I didn't know what to expect but they delivered one hell of a game!!
The characters are captured perfectly, and the game requires no prior experience with the comic book series to fully appreciated the game's story, characters and mechanics. The story is full of twists and turns that you're in control of and I was hooked and couldn't stop playing until I had finished it.
This game got me hooked on TellTale games

Your Decisions Matter

It's always great to have a game where the choices you make influnce the storyline. Telltale has once again put together a great story with some meaningful decisions. Definitely worth your money.

The most entertaining game I've played for a while - and got it at a steal for R99.

Simply oustanding, especially for a first-timer to TellTale's Games

I've been eyeing this game for quite some time, and was ecstatic when Raru had it on special (Yes, thank you once again for a great gaming bargain!)

The game is based on the comic book series, 'Fables' by Bill Willingham. As you've guessed it, it deals with a lot of folklore and fairy tale characters, such as Sleeping Beauty, to even Bloody Mary. You play as Bigby Wolf, (AKA The Big Bad Wolf in Fairy Tales)who is a sheriff of Fabletown and have to help the Fables that now live among society and the changes that happens to them.

The game has a lot of violence, profanity (Jeez, that profanity) and intriguing storylines that branch out based on your decisions (As this is a TellTale's game after all). There are many moral choices that depicts how the characters act towards you, and how the world changes.

The voice acting is superbly done, I give my hat off to the voice actors, the soundtrack fits the game perfectly, and the artwork and design for the environment and characters are amazingly done. The frame rate does tend to freeze for about a second after your decisions in certain scenarios, but I guess it's part of the 'decision-making factor' that now changes the world around you.

If you ever loved seeing Disney's stories come to life in an adult-themed manner, I highly recommend this.

Twist & Turns

Telltale is great story tellers and bringing this comic book to live was a master piece. Snow White etc. but this is no ordinary Fable and Not for kids. this is where the wolf is the Sheriff and kick butts and rip arms off. Worth every second.
