A RETURN TO HORROR

Reviewed by on

Despite some technical shortcomings, The Evil Within 2 is an incredible horror game that should not be slept on. It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten a game like this and it shows that there’s still a lot of things that can be innovated on in the genre. Tango Gameworks took all of the criticisms of the first game to heart and built an emotional game about guilt and forgiveness. The amount of depth in the game’s story is worthy of an applause and there’s a lot of fun to be had with the intense, sweat-inducing gameplay. The Evil Within 2 is a must play for horror fans thanks to its moving plot, sandbox gameplay, and nightmare-ish world and is an essential purchase

Great Game for Horror Lovers!

With Resident Evil a mere shadow of what it once was and Silent Hill essentially no longer existing, if you are craving a good (third person) survival horror experience in the realm of the greatest of these two franchises then you can't go wrong with this game. The game plays like the more action-orientated Resident Evil titles (4-6) but the gruesome and psychological horror, macabre monsters and spooky town will bring back memories the earlier Silent Hill titles.

If you loved the first one, it retains all the best aspects of it in addition to expanding on them. The graphics aren't the greatest the system has to offer and some of the narrative is a little weak in places, but the game more than makes up for that with interesting environments, terrifying creatures and stress-inducing set-pieces. It's not a short game either (approximately 20 hours for a first playthrough), so well worth the asking price.
