PS5 is great

Reviewed by on

I have seen many posts on the Internet and a couple here that say rather wait to get the PS5. I say the absolute opposite, if you are coming from PS4 specifically get it as soon as you are able to and can afford it. My reasoning is that it plays 99% of PS4 games and you benefit from improved framerates on titles that have unlocked framerates. If a game uses dynamic resolution scaling, the game will more than likely stay at that upper resolution. Running the game from the internal SSD can also speed up load times. What I am saying is that it makes your PS4 obsolete. The only bad thing I can say is that it doesn't natively support PSVR which I find extremely poor from Sony.

It's great, but maybe wait

Reviewed by on

Honest review - it's definitely a generational leap forwards, especially the new DualSense controller. I have however experienced a few minor issues with mine, including hard freezes, stick drift and coil whine. Software updates seem to have solved the hard freezes and stick drift, but the coil whine will be permanent because that's an actual hardware issue. There currently aren't many games for PS5, and the ones that are out are very expensive. If you buy it now, you'll mostly be playing PS4 titles for a good while. If you can wait another year, you might find some 2nd hand games on the market and possibly even a lightly used console. Also, Sony are trying to optimise their production to produce units faster, so you might find that there's a "slim" version on the market sooner than expected. Buy it if you're impatient, or wait if you're not.

A wonderful Console

Reviewed by on

Please ignore the review by Dewald W on May 18, 2021.

This man clearly either does not own one or simply just dislikes Sony.
This console is priced competitively with the gaming market, costing the exact same price as its competitor, and cheaper than all new graphics cards. The console does not have quick resume as Dewald mentioned as that is a feature of the competitor, further proving this man has not even touched the console. The sleep mode resumes very fast into whichever game you were playing, it outputs at 4k and is capable of playing 4k Blu-Rays which is wonderful.
The dual sense controller is the only next generation controller and it feels awesome to experience, Truly after the success of the PS4's Launch Sony has hit another home run and the exclusives released so far are incredible.

Truly worth every cent.

Wait for a revised version.

Reviewed by on

Overpriced. Problems arise when trying to exit rest mode and half of the time the quick resume doesn't work. Wait for a more revised compact (and it will be cheaper!) version when all the issues has been ironed out.

The base PS4 launch console was a disaster and this is following the same trend. The PS Pro is also just a loud piece of crap with fake 4K (The Series X was the first real 4K console) The PS4 slim hit the sweet spot and is an amazing piece of kit.

Im sure the PS5 slim will be great in due time but not a the moment.

Funny

Reviewed by on

I find it funny that Raru only post reviews they can get behind and answer, else the rest are "dismissed" after I have noticed other online "gaming" sites are providing a better service than you guys, tis time to say GOODBYE...

An honest PS5 review

Reviewed by on

So I have had my PS5 for about a week now and here are my feelings.

The looks:
The PS5 console itself is a chonky piece of hardware, an absolute unit. The largest console I have ever owned. This device will stand out in most living rooms. Sony was obviously going for a bold statement here. I also feel that form follow function here as the curved "wings" prevent the air intakes from getting blocked. Just be prepared to have space available for this console. The device is also very quiet compared to the PS4 Pro.

The controller:
This is the best Sony controller to date. It is slightly larger than the PS4 DualShock and slightly heavier. It also has haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that, while not transformative to the gaming experience, adds some great tactile feedback to games that support it. Also, USB-C FINALLY!

The UI:
This can be summed up in one word. Elegant. There will be improvements as the patches roll out, but the UI and UX is perfectly functional at launch.

The games:
While there are not many games that are really 100% exclusive to the console yet, the Spider-Man games running the PS5 versions are fluid at 60FPS but you can only have Ray-Tracing enabled at the 30FPS mode. I think we will in time see some amazing 1st part Sony games just like we did for the last generation. But for now, if you missed out on the launch drops of the consoles, you are not really missing out. So there is really no need to be leaving rude reviews for Raru like some of the guys below this.

All in all, this is a true "next-gen" console that is a must get within the next 6 months to a year due to the "skinny" launch line up of games. The controller is a big improvement and the looks of the device itself are striking. I see this console hitting its stride with a few more next-gen exclusives landing next year.

No Updates on Allocation

Reviewed by on

I received no updates on Allocation for 1st batch and 2nd batch.... Terrible service from Raru as usual... Those who you call speak without passion to their customers, believe they can control the narrative all because they have no recording system for calls and therefor can speak to customers any how.

When can we expect the second batch of preorders to be shipped and delivered?

Reviewed by on (Verified Buyer)

I was under the impression the second batch of preorder stock would start shipping around mid-December.

However, my order history suggests that the unit may only ship on 31 December; when will you be able to provide some clarity?

Raru Admin Note:

The 31 Dec. is a place holder date. The hope is that the stock will come in before then, but if there are delays we will let customers know.

Second Allocation

How can you make the Pre Order Live at 8:00am - I then added the console to my Cart went immediately to Checkout but then the allocation was sold out in less than a minute how's this possible? Now I have to wait again this is ridiculous man.

Raru Admin Note: The second drop pre-order allocation sold out in about a minute due to overwhelming demand. The next drop is expected early 2021. We will advise once we get more info regarding when those pre-orders can go live again.

At this point, I think it's safe to assume there will not be a second allocation before release

Reviewed by on

It's nearing the release date, there is absolutely no way that there will be a second wave of pre-orders before the console releases.

I guess I'll be contending for a console on release day.
